The 5 Weeks for Freedom campaign kicked off last night in Alabama with an event at the University of Mobile. The event featured music by U of M student Kyle Fredericks and a critically acclaimed artists The Wrecking, followed by a screening of star-studded “Rockumentary” Call + Response — which gives a sobering look at the reality of modern-day slavery. The 5 Weeks for Freedom riders also took the stage with IJM VP of Field Operations, Sean Litton, who shared client stories as evidence that when ordinary people stand up to help the vulnerable, freedom IS possible.
Special thanks to Tony Plosczynski from 92 ZEW for coming down to support our event and share what we’re doing with his listeners. Also special thanks to Neal Ledbetter and the team from University of Mobile for graciously hosting our event; as well as Haven Fields and all the athletes from University of South Alabama that came out to support the event.
The riders and the @5WFF road crew push off Monday morning at 7am for Birmingham. Follow our path as we track the riders live from the bikes. Our next event is Friday, July 2 at Workplay in Birmingham—we hope to see you there! And remember, we’re looking for 100,000 people to text FREEDOM to 20222 to give $10 to IJM’s work—will you help us spread the word?
